A few weeks back I already spoke about British Pathé and their vintage channel.
This week’s entry really caught my attention and I’m still wondering if I find it mostly creepy or fascinating (although I think it’s cute they thought of a plus size model), so I’ll let you lot decide!
Recently I discovered British Pathé and their Vintage fashion youtube channel. They describe themselves as “the finest newsreel archive in the world and a treasure trove of 85,000 films unrivalled in their historical and cultural significance. Spanning the years from 1896 to 1976, the collection includes footage from around the globe of major events, famous faces, fashion trends, travel, science and culture.”
They feature a film of the day and upload a new film on their Vintage fashion channel every Wednesday. They also have a war archive channel and a sporting history channel.
To keep in line with the Geeky Friday theme, I hereby present you a 1930’s designers’ idea on what women would wear by the year 2000. Such a pity some of these ideas haven’t been implemented yet
Which of the featured designs would you gladly wear?
You’ve probably already seen this little beauty pass by somewhere on the interwebs, but I still wanted to share it because:
a) it gives a nice overview of the history of women’s makeup (and the different products that were used
b) it shows that the ideal of beauty is subject to change
c) this allows me to hug my couch a bit more while I fight of a nasty bacterial infection
