The Silver Sandal Search

As I mentioned in my latest wishlist update, I’m looking to replace my silver “princess” sandals.

As per usual I pop in and out of shoe stores each time I pass one, but I also regularly look into all the shoe sales over at Vente Exclusive.

A little while back there was an Hypnosi sale, where I spotted a pair of sandals that ticked all the boxes: flats, silver and strappy…

So, I decided, for the very first time in my life to order shoes online…
Because they have really good return conditions and because I didn’t know the sizing of the brand I even decided to order them in two sizes.

The shoes arrived for pickup last week on Saturday and since I needed to pop out to the store for some groceries I picked them up straight away.

Great was my disappointment when they turned out to be bronze rather than silver while at the same time they were just as strappy as I like and fitted perfectly without irritating the old scars of an operation from years ago.
Oh cruel faith…

I contemplated keeping them, since I used to not like silver coloured shoes either, but in the end I decided to send them back anyway…
I know myself, if I’m not instantly wowed by a pair of shoes (or if they are not the only pair on earth that I can wear at the time), I probably won’t wear them. So I decided to continue my search…

In the mean time there is a Tamaris sale is on going at Vente Exclusive and if the below sandals fit and are as silver as they appear in the picture, my search may be at an end… To be continued somewhere in the next two weeks…

Have you ever bought shoes online? And have you ever been disappointed because they were perfect except for the colour?

Birthdaygirl – Shoepershoe challenge #22

A few years back I started the tradition of buying myself a pretty new dress for my birthday, which I then wear to my birthday party.
Apparently I’m not the only one to do so, one of my colleagues (who must have a wardrobe almost as big as a 2 bedroom apartment going by the many different outfits she wears to work) does so too. She even goes as far as to have the shop girl gift wrap it for her.

This year’s dress is from Casis and was love at first sight and upon trying it on I knew this was to be this year’s b-day dress.

I wore it to my party with the last pair of Tamaris shoes I still had to save. A pair of nude slingbacks, vhich can be easily worn when the weather doesn’t really know which season it wants to belong too.

The party was great: had yummie food, received lovely gifts, had a nice time with my family.
After the weekend when I got back to work I was also spoiled by my colleagues, who presented me with a New Look gift voucher.

As is tradition: before I received the voucher I saw lots of stuff I wanted to buy, but since I received it there’s not really anything that yells out at me. But no worries the voucher is still valid for a long while so if I pop into the store from time to time, I should be able to find something that really pleases me.

Last of the summer shoes – Shoeper shoe challenge 21

Saved my last pair of summer shoes when I went babysitting. I chose to wear something both elegant but also easy to goof around in with my two nephews (ages 5 and 7), which was a good choice as I ended up in a sword fight with all the kids of their street.
I even managed to kill 3 enemies although the first idea was to have one group kidnap me and the other group save me.

What I love about these NR/RAPISARDI sandals is:

– the straps (obviously)
– the glitter
– the special shape of the heel
– the fact that a sweet friend of mine called them real princess sandals

Clumsy me – Shoeper shoe challenge #19 and #20

Last week I was grateful that Shoeperwoman changed the rules of the Shoeper shoe challenge and we don’t have to include a full length shot of our outfit anymore.

On Thursday morning I had taken advantage of the Indian summer we were enjoying (and which should lasted till Monday, giving me enough time to save the last 3 pairs of summery shoes that needed saving) to save my white strappy sandals.
Was planning to have my picture taken in the evening, but I managed to spill most of the vinaigrette I got with my salad when I was trying to open it, effectively making sure my outfit was no longer suitable for a shoe challenge picture.
Luckily the meeting with my new client was before my lunch break.

I bought these sandals in Malaga, 2 years ago in September, when I was visiting my cousin who lives about 25km outside of Malaga.
It was the same day my wallet was stolen, which caused some distress, but couldn’t counter the happiness I felt in finding these shoes after searching after a pair of white sandals for most of the summer.

By the way, it’s quite impossible to take decent pictures of your own feet, luckily I have my personal photographer

A few days later I saved the last pair of 3 very comfy Le Routard flats (the white ones), but didn’t manage to take a decent pictures since once again a lost a fight with some of my food and ended up spilling it on my skirt.

Shoeper shoe challenge #18 – car trouble

Had some car trouble a while back. Came out of the office one evening to find my car with a flat tire.
My car is a company car, so I have a contract with a breakdown service, so I didn’t have to be bothered by finding someone to help me change the tire.
However, as it would take them about an hour to arrive and I would still have to go to the tire center since I don’t have a full blown spare tire (only an emergency one with speed and distance limitations) I was allowed to take one of the company cars that stood unused in the parking lot.

Knowing that the next day I would have to wait outside while they changed tires and would have to drop of the car at the tire center and walk back to work during lunch break (about a 15 min walk), I decided to wear something comfortable:
black linnen trousers, a tunic and some very comfy strappy sandals from Caravelle.

Sorry for the blurry eyed look, this picture was taken in the morning before I was off to work.

Shoeper shoe challenge #17 – another month another family reunion

This month’s family reunion was to celebrate the birthdays of my brother and my youngest nephew, next month’s reunion will be mine and my mom’s birthday.
Since the weather couldn’t quite decice on what it was going to be we took our aperitif on the terrace, went inside for dinner and dessert and returned back outside for coffee and refreshments.

The outfit I chose is one I bought for the wedding of two close friends.
The dress is a silk Mexx dress, the shoes are Tamaris.
As the wedding took place in April I had originally chosen a pair of court shoes (the once I saved in March for yet another birthday party), but due to an accident on the bride’s hen night I was no longer able to wear them (this was my first attempt at murdering a toe) and bought the strappy version last minute.

Shoeper shoe challenge #16 relax

I think the only reason I managed to get through this hectic week, in which I had to manage the client follow up of 3 of my colleagues (2 on vacation and 1 on sick leave) on top of my own, is because I knew I would be rewarded with going to a spa on Saturday with a good friend.
She had won a day pass and didn’t really feel like going alone so she asked me to come along, which I gladly did.

We started the day by passing by a vinotheque near by, which turned out ot be closed, and then went for a light lunch at the wellness center before we enjoyed a day of sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and more fun stuff.

In the evening we picked up my boyfriend and went for a nice meal and when we came home I went straight to bed (after having my picture taken), relaxing is a tiring business. (Which absolute doesn’t show in the picture, does it?)

In order to easily get in and out of my clothes and to let the relaxed feeling linger a bit when returning home I chose some comfy clotes (the skirt I returned home with after the swishing event) and another pair of Le Routards very comfortable strappy flats.
